Is AXIS-Y Halal? We Were Dying to Know Too So We Went To Find Out!

AXIS-Y is a South Korean brand that has taken Malaysian social media by storm and has become super popular. But one of the most important questions by Malaysian customers is – Is AXIS-Y halal?

We did some digging and here’s what we found out!

But First – What Is Not Allowed in Halal Skincare?

According to this piece in 2016 by Cosmetics Design Asia, halal cosmetics cannot contain:

1. Any parts or ingredients derived from forbidden animals, such as collagen or glycerin derived from dogs or pigs.
   
   
2. Any ingredients that could cause harm to the consumer. This includes mercury, lead and hydroquinone.
   
   
3. Any ingredients derived from human parts, such as stem cells. Halal products should use plant-derived stem cells.
   
   

Keeping this in mind, we come back to the question – is AXIS-Y halal?

Are AXIS-Y Products Halal?

There are two products from AXIS-Y that are halal-certified. They are:

1. AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack
   
   
2. AXIS-Y New Skin Resolution Gel Mask

This certification is by the Korea Halal Authority.

AXIS-Y’s other products do not have halal certification but they are vegan-certified. The certification is by the Korean Vegan Association.

This means that all ingredients used in AXIS-Y products are derived from plants and are cruelty-free (i.e. no animal products or testing).

All AXIS-Y products also do not contain mercury, lead and hydroquinone.

So, to sum up:

There are 2 products from AXIS-Y that are halal-certified by the Korean Halal Association – the Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack and the New Skin Resolution Gel Mask.

The other products from AXIS-Y do not have halal certification.

BUT

All products are vegan-certified and do not contain mercury, lead or hydroquinone. This means it is very unlikely that AXIS-Y products contain prohibited ingredients.

Thus, you could conclude that AXIS-Y is halal-friendly.

Is the AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Serum Halal?

According to a reply on Instagram by AXIS-Y Malaysia’s official account on April 17 2022, you will be glad to know that their viral product the AXIS-Y Dark Spot Glow Serum is in the process of getting halal certification.

And they confirmed that 100% of the ingredients are halal-friendly!

This really shows AXIS-Y’s level of commitment to its Malaysian customers.
