You’ve seen it all over TikTok.
It’s appeared on all the “Best Sunscreen 2022” lists.
And all your favourite skincare influencers can’t stop talking about it.
So when Beauty of Joseon landed in myeppo’s offices, we were so excited to the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics sunscreen to see what all the fuss was about!
Is it really worth it? Is it worthy of the #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt hashtag?
We had so many questions. And here are all the answers to see if 2022’s most viral sunscreen really lives up to the hype!
What is Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen?
A sunscreen with SPF50+ and PA++++ for protection from both UVA and UVB rays.
Is Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen a chemical or physical sunscreen?
It is a chemical sunscreen.
What UV filters does it contain?
The UV filters in the Beauty Of Joseon Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotics are:
Uvinul A Plus (UVA), Uvinul T 150 (highest photo-stable absorption of all available UVB filters), Tinosorb M (broad spectrum – highly photostable), Iscotrizinol (UVB and UVA II).
What’s in this Beauty of Joseon sunscreen that makes it so good?
30% Rice Extract – The key ingredient to its amazing moisturising abilities.
Niacinamide – To reduce the appearance of pores and control sebum
Antioxidants from ginseng and green tea extracts – To help skin feel refreshed and bacteria free.
What is the texture like?
It feels more like a lotion than a sunscreen. It goes on super smooth and easily, and just feels really moisturising and watery. It doesn’t feel heavy at all and spreads over skin really smoothly and easily.

What sort of finish?
It’s definitely not a matte finish, but is also not a dewy finish. I would say it dries down normally, and gives a slight sheen to the skin, so it may not be preferable for those with really oily skin. Other than that, it makes skin look vibrant and healthy.
Does Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen leave a white cast?
In my experience, there is no white cast! I could detect a hint of a whitecast upon the initial application, but after it dried it became completely transparent!
What’s the packaging like?
The sunscreen comes in a paper box, with the product itself in a plastic tube. This meant that I could squeeze out every ounce of sunscreen without wastage.
The bad thing about it though is the screw-on cap. This means I needed to use two hands to open it and apply. Totally fine while at home, but a bit of a hassle while I was on the go.
What skin type is Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen suitable for?
Beauty of Joseon recommends that it is suitable for all skin types, and surprisingly, I tend to agree.
Generally, we all know that sensitive, dry and acne-prone skin types prefer physical sunscreens because it is more moisturising.
But after seeing the lotion-like texture and high level of absorption of this Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, I think it can really work well for those skin types as well.
It really does provide so much moisture and spreads on like a dream! The finish is normal – not too matte or too dewy, so those with *very oily* skin might find it a bit shiny. But the moisturising effects far outweighs this, in my opinion.
So based on our personal experience, it’s a great chemical sunscreen to use for all skin types. And not many chemical sunscreens can lay claim to that!
Does this sunscreen sting the eyes?
In my experience, there was no stinging or burning. Generally, Korean sunscreens tend to be quite gentle on this front compared to Western-formulated sunscreens.
Does this sunscreen contain alcohol?
Not as far as I can tell.
Anything else?
It’s cruelty-free and fragrance-free.
