When it comes to Korean dramas, I am such an avid fan. In between my binging of K-series, I noticed a striking similarity amongst the female leads: they all wore see-through bangs as their hairstyles. So yeppo!

What are see-through bangs?

According to All Things Hair, see-through bangs are thin, wispy bangs that show a bit of your forehead. Your hair strain is a bit longer than usual, as the fringe with a layered shape will give you a softer look because they are less dense like full bangs.

If you already made up your mind to get this trendy fringe cut, you’re in luck. Hairstyling expert VV Chan shared a few tips during Mise-en-Scène first virtual launch for its newly upgraded Perfect Serum line.

Step 1: Wash and dry your hair

To ensure the best finish for your bangs, you can wash and dry your hair with shampoo such as Mise en Scene Perfect Serum Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s all about the timing when you wash your hair, as it takes time and preparation. We don’t want to turn up to a special event with a new coiffure that won’t hold your desired style.

Most of the experts recommend you wash your hair every two to three days, but it’s subjective as different hair, different outcomes. Make sure to take care of your scalp condition too!

Step 2: Prep with hair serum

Before you style your hair, you can prep with your favourite hair serum or the Perfect Styling Serum. So, you don’t have to worry about any damage to your hair when you use heating tools such as hair dryers or curling iron, and it can make your hair last for the whole day. Just pump a bit on your hand and put it on the ends, and style your bangs.

Step 3: Pick your weapon

During the event, beauty influencer Jestinna Kuan shared that she used curlers to achieve her desired bangs style. Her hairstylist, Chan then recommended using a hair roller. If you have been to Korea, you will see many girls with hair rollers on the train (to maintain their bangs).

According to Chan, all you need is around 10 minutes with that hair roller on your bangs. During that waiting time, you can style the rest of your hair. If you want more volume and bounce, you can pull up and roll. If you roll down, your bangs will be more natural.

Step 4: Fix your bangs

Pomade might be too much in your quest to make your bangs last longer. All you need is a bit of hairspray to fix it! Make sure to watch the distance when spraying. It can make your bangs get a little bit hard with white residue if it’s too close. At least six inches apart, and you will be safe!

If you want to keep the volume, you can hairspray it underneath the bangs, comb and spray a little over the top. Now, you can keep your see-through bangs in place.

Tempted to get yourself see-through bangs?

Well, my last advice is to consult with a hairstylist if you want to get that beautiful K-drama female lead fringe.

You may be tempted to do it yourself, but let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it looks. If you get it wrong, your bangs might end up too short or thick, and it’s going to take quite a while to grow it back. To avoid any disappointment, make sure to consult with the experts!
